Hand-Crafted Art Dolls

I really enjoy making things when they
have a special meaning. The very first
art doll I made I named Aurora. I made
her with my best friend from childhood, Cathy, in mind. One night Cathy’s older brother picked us up in his car and took
us to Lake Michigan to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) over the lake.
It was a magical time just looking up at
the beautiful colors in the sky.

Three art dolls that I made are very
special to me. These dolls were published
in Art Doll Quarterly Magazine. They are not special for that reason however. They are special because I made them in honor
of my parents and sister who all died of cancer. I made three colorful dolls with lots of embellishments to honor the beautiful spirits of those I lost (the three dolls are the red, blue and animal print dolls below).

Hand-Painted Ceramics

Many things that I decide to paint are things that I have found at garage sales or on the clearance rack in some store. These plates were so plain that I thought they needed a little color to turn them into a piece of art.

Hand-Painted Furniture
and Housewares

I have always loved family pictures and have made many scrapbooks over the years. When I decided to have my own home studio I knew that I needed pictures of my family to be very close to me as I worked. I had begun painting a table that I wanted to use in the studio. I painted an animal print on the legs and painted the top a solid color. I then started putting photos on top of the table. I cut them into different shapes and decoupaged them into place. When the entire table top was covered I put a piece of glass on top and this is where I do most of my painting, sewing and creating.

Hand-Painted Glassware

I love taking clear glass objects and giving them life by painting them. I enjoy painting vases, candle holders, wine or champagne glasses or anything that looks like it needs
a little color.

Custom work available to match a
theme or colors in homes or offices.
